Structural fumigation - which involves tenting a property - is typically an extremely effective way to kill bed bugs and other pests. A gas is released throughout the sealed structure, penetrating furniture, walls, and fabrics to destroy bed bugs at all life stages, including eggs, nymphs, and adults. During the process all tenants, pets and plants need to be evacuated for several days. Bed bug fumigation is typically only used for stand-alone buildings and may not be available in all service areas.
In apartment buildings, fumigation for bed bugs and other pests becomes far more complex. Because bed bugs can move between walls, vents, and shared spaces, every connected unit needs to be treated at the same time. If even one unit is missed, the infestation can easily return. That’s why fumigation is rarely the first choice for these types of properties.
